In fact, graffiti is well preserved in Pompeii because of the eruption of Vesuvius. Everything from wall paintings to a caricature of a politician, as well as curses, magic spells, and political slogans, or a drawing of a phallus accompanied by �Handle with care� as text, all fall under the category of graffiti.
